The Men – “Wading in Dirty Water“
Genre: a witches brew of southern rock, punk, and metal
Feeling: catharsis
The song fades in as if its been playing the whole time. For all we know it might have been.
Brooklyn everything-rock trio The Men (how did nobody take that one?) are back with their 8th album in 10 years. They packed all their relentless southern-inspired jamming into “Wading in Dirty Water,” a song most bands would have cut off at the 5 or 6 or 7 minute mark. But The Men are not most bands. And thank god for that.

Billy Strings – “Wharf Rat” (Live at the Capitol Theatre, Port Chester, NY)

Genre: psychedelic bluegrass
Feeling: bringing the Dead back to their roots
Here at Ned’s Meds we don’t get a lot of fan mail. Our suggestion box is usually empty. So it’s hard to pass up the chance to post a fan suggestion. Yeah, the fan might have known me since I was in diapers, but beggars can’t be choosers.
With the Dead, their catalogue of songs is so vast that you’ll find a song you may have heard before but never really paid much mind to. And then that song will be on repeat for weeks to months. It helps to know a few heads who know a few things about the Dead. Thanks Kev!
Half of my life,
I spent doin’ time
For some other fucker’s crime

Fly Golden Eagle – “Poo Pam Happening”
Genre: indie psych-funk
Feeling: Deep cover at a speakeasy, August 2040
What is the poo pam? Why is it happening?
Would you meet me in the roundabout?

Kikagaku Moyo – “Smoke and Mirrors”
Genre: acid folk/heavy psychedelic jam
Feeling: like an earthquake
Here’s a favorite biking tune of mine that has helped me get through gale force headwinds in Boston. I’m still waiting on Japanese Psychedelic Rock Wave to hit the States, if it hasn’t already.
