Mako Road – Drink from the Water
Feeling: not being in a rush to get to the shred session
Genre: Tash Sultana’s sultans of swing
Tycho – For How Long (ft. Saint Sinner)
Feeling: Often do we talk about your life flashing before your eyes in the moment before death but not enough about the future you flash before yourself when you meet someone you think might be special.
Genre: chillstepop
The wise denizens of the youtube comment section said this song was about polyamory and the tensions that arise in such a relationship. I’m sure the commenters have a lot of first hand experience with this.
Tycho emerged out of the “4-hour Chill beats You can study to” and into his own renown with 2011’s Dive, a drum-laced meditation that set the bar for chillwave. Yeah, it’s a genre. Educate yourself.
And Saint Sinner’s vocals drive if not make the track. I thought there was limit on songs featuring spacey-female-vocals laid over chill beats but clearly we’re not even close to it.
Próxima Parada – Desert Bloom II
Feeling: the waiting room for the vision quest
Genre: Kruangbin-wave
Próxima Parada. What does it mean? Who cares just enjoy the alliteration and the reclined jam.
Mindmatter – I Can Change
Genre: TikTok era reactionary revisiting the Recession era
Feeling: LCD Soundsystem if they prescribed it adderal too early
A cover does its job when it makes you go to the original song, realized you’ve never gave it a proper listen, and fall in love with both versions. Tycho’s youtube commenters would like a word.
